Mount Carmel’s school library is a JCSP Project Library run by two qualified librarians, Siobhain and Jenny.
Our students have access to the library before school, during lunchtime and after school as well as scheduled library classes for all Junior Cycle students and some Senior Cycle students. All our students are expected to read on a regular basis and borrowing books is part of daily life in our school.
It has been proven that access to reading materials and the encouragement of reading for pleasure increases test scores in all subjects. The library at Mount Carmel is one of 30 JCSP Demonstration Libraries in the country.
