The Mount Carmel Academic All-Stars
The Mount Carmel Academic All-Stars is a school mentoring programme which aims to pair-up high-achieving senior students with high achieving junior students. The purpose of this programme is to ensure that students maintain their high academic standards throughout their school years by having a mentor-student who they are paired with. In this way we hope that they will be encouraged to foster their talents and work hard. For the older mentor student it is an opportunity to be a leader and role model to younger students and to form friendships with students that perhaps otherwise they would have no opportunity to meet.
The All-Stars are selected based on exam results and teacher recommendation and regularly meet up in school at lunch time or break time for a chat to discuss how they manage exam success, study timetables and general work-life balance. They are also afforded regular trips due to the support of several general sponsors. In 2018, the All-Stars visited Twitter HQ in Dublin to discover what life is like in a large multinational corporation.
