TAP Awards

Last night a selection of our students honoured at the TAP Awards in Trinity College Dublin

We are incredibly proud to celebrate their hard work, determination, and achievements. These awards recognise not only academic success, but also resilience, commitment, and the positive impact our students make within the community.

Congratulations to all of the award recipients, a fantastic achievement and a very well-deserved recognition.

TY Student of the Month Awards (March & April)

Well done to our TY students who were worthy recipients of the TY ‘Student of The Month’ awards, for March and April. A big thanks also to David Smyth from NEIC/ NCI, who presented them to the students.

David organised quality work placements for our TY students during the year and we very much appreciate all the work he put in, to create these valuable opportunities for them.

Miasma play – science and history on stage

️‍️ Sixty TY students and staff had the opportunity to attend the play Miasma  – a gripping one-hour detective story exploring the fight against the cholera pandemic, at the James Joyce Centre on North Great George’s Street, Dublin 1.

️‍️ The play was staged so that our students were very close to the actors, which made for a very special experience for our students. This proximity allowed the students to closely watch the actors’ expressions and movements, to clearly hear the words spoken in Dickensian era English and to absorb the costumes and props used.

️‍️A fascinating mix of history, science and storytelling that brought the past to life!

The librarian was contacted by Caitlin White,  Education & Outreach Manager at University College Dublin to invite our students along. The playwright Colin Murphy was there on the day and spoke to our students after the play. He spoke about the themes, and his writing experience and process.

Crochet Workshop in the library

Fantastic Crochet Workshop! Mrs Hassan, the mother of one of our students, did a crochet workshop with students and worked with them to make crocheted hair ties/ scrunchies.

Mrs Hassan is a brilliant instructor and our students picked up crochet skills really quickly and made some great pieces.

We are very grateful to her and for the beautiful crocheted gift she made for us.

Sports Day

What a fantastic Sports Day we had last Friday!

Students gave it their all across a range of exciting events, from sprint races and the always-entertaining three-legged race to the impressive long jump. There was huge energy on the field during the penalty shoot-out, and the teacher tug of war brought plenty of laughs and cheers from everyone watching!

A big congratulations to the Blue Team, who came out on top this year – well done to all involved!

Most importantly, it was a day full of teamwork, fun, and school spirit. Thanks to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make the day such a success!
