Numerous studies have found that the place or context in which you study affects how you’ll remember that information. If you designate one room or area as your study space, over time your brain will catch on. You’ll enter into ‘study-mode’ sooner upon entering the space, which is an especially valuable before tests.
An ideal study place should contain:
- Good lighting
- A comfortable chair
- Books, notes and stationary on hand
- Your study planner
- Clock
Should I listen to music when I’m studying?
This is one of the most common questions I get asked by students and their parents. The simple answer is NO. Listening to music is a form of multitasking and you will do better learning in silence. Also you will have to perform the exam in silence so there is a benefit to practicing in silence.
