️️ Sixty TY students and staff had the opportunity to attend the play Miasma – a gripping one-hour detective story exploring the fight against the cholera pandemic, at the James Joyce Centre on North Great George’s Street, Dublin 1.
️️ The play was staged so that our students were very close to the actors, which made for a very special experience for our students. This proximity allowed the students to closely watch the actors’ expressions and movements, to clearly hear the words spoken in Dickensian era English and to absorb the costumes and props used.
️️A fascinating mix of history, science and storytelling that brought the past to life!
The librarian was contacted by Caitlin White, Education & Outreach Manager at University College Dublin to invite our students along. The playwright Colin Murphy was there on the day and spoke to our students after the play. He spoke about the themes, and his writing experience and process.
